Mortgage Loan Originator Inside Sales
Job Summary
The Mortgage Loan Originator originates home loans, counsels customers in mortgage financing, provides appropriate disclosures, and develops mortgage referral sources. The originator is responsible for converting company provided leads to funded MORTGAGE LOANs.
Primary and Essential Functions
• Leads and supports Strengthening HOPE Initiative that values an organizational culture for open communication, innovation, associate engagement and other traits that contribute to collaboration and high performance.
• Follow up on generated leads.
• Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
• Explain to customers the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
• Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other applicable financial information to determine eligibility for loan approval.
• Review and update credit and loan files.
• Review loan agreements/sales contacts to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.
• Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
• Confer with underwriters/processors to aid in resolving mortgage application problems.
• Market bank products to individuals and firms, promoting bank services that may meet customers' needs.
• Required to meet minimum quarterly/annual production goals. The goals will be set annually and will be at the beginning of each year and reiterated monthly. If the goals are not met, MLO may be subject to disciplinary action.
Secondary Functions
• Perform general administrative duties such as attending meetings, report production, etc.
• Work with other departments when needed on projects related to the mission of HOPE.
• Represent HOPE at functions.
• Develop and maintain referral sources.

• Must comply with the provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act
• Must comply with the provisions of the Fair Housing Act
• Must comply with the provisions of the Flood Disaster Protection Act
• Must comply with the provisions of the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (Regulation C)
• Must comply with the provisions of the Homeowners Protection Act
• Must comply with the provisions of the National Flood Insurance Act
• Must comply with the provisions of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (Regulation X)
• Must comply with the provisions of the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act
• Must comply with the provisions of the Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z)

Competencies/Skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access
• Working knowledge of Calyx Point
• Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to communicate with closing agents, correspondent lenders and other staff
• Ability to use full functions of calculator
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret data
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills
• Ability to relate well with customers and business affiliates
Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field
• One to Two years of mortgage experience
• Knowledge of secondary lending, including FHA, VA and conventional loans
• Knowledge of compliance requirements and regulations
• Familiarity with Calyx, Desk Top Underwriting and/or Loan Prospector
Physical Demands
• Employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk.
• Employee will be in constant use of keyboard which would require use of hands and fingers.
• Employee will be in constant communication with other persons related to work and requiring the use of hearing and speaking.
• Employee must infrequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds

• Employee spends the majority of time in office environment, generally accessible to the public, customers, and potential customers
