General Overview
This position's overarching responsibility is the management, preventative maintenance, and reporting of all activities concerning blow molds or Injection Molds. The candidate will also be responsible for the condition/upkeep of the tool room. This includes the safe operation of all equipment once training has been completed. The candidate will work with outside sources to manage repairs and manage tooling PM process. Associates are to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement. This role requires leadership skills, good communications skills, the ability to think critically, learn new processes, be self-motivated, adapt to changes, and work in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of people.
Overall Responsibilities

  • Assigns work, monitors job progress, and relates spending by asset number.
  • Assures that parts, equipment, and components are available and in readiness for conducting referred work. This includes recommending department supplies and mold components as needed to complete the work.
  • Reads and creates engineering drawings or sketches for tools or fixtures required in Injection Molding.
  • Determines the assembly sequence for the tool or fixture, under the direction of the process engineer.
  • Coordinates with process engineer on parts to be purchased or outside services required.
  • Works under minimal supervision from the process engineer.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing engineering during a project.
  • Assist Process Engineer with set up and testing of tools and fixtures prior to first production run.
  • Repairs existing production equipment under direction of the Injection Mold process engineer and makes modifications where requested, using sketches or detailed verbal instruction and tool room work requests.
  • Notifies the supervisor of any faulty equipment or mechanical conditions, keeps the work area clean and orderly, and maintains equipment and tools in good working order.
  • Review production schedules and ensure molds are prepared for production meeting customer demands.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Maintenance Departments concerning mold and malfunctions.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Maintains records related to tools.
  • Updating 5s standards
  • Maintain Gemba process boards for molds.

Qualifications, Skills, Competencies
  • Exemplifies leadership abilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based software
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written format
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Promotes teamwork and contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Prior Injection Molding experience is a plus.
  • 5 years related experience or equivalent preferred.
  • Technical understanding of Injection Molding processes and procedures
  • Trained in hoist/crane/rigging/forklift operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and literacy with equipment control panels for complex machines
  • Ability to analyze products and mechanically understand equipment to get desired output.
  • Bend and lift a minimum of 40 pounds safely and repeatedly.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to identify alpha/numeric codes.
  • Self-motivated/ self-starter

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
The work will be performed in a manufacturing environment as well as an office environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Occasional lifting to 40 pounds may be required.
