Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs duties to insure prompt, courteous and appropriate patient care in conjunction with the office and other clinical staff.
Desired/Required Qualifications:
Education:

  • Licensed LPN in the State of Michigan.

Specific skills & abilities:
  • Preferred oncology outpatient or acute care experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Handle telephone messages from patients, hospitals, physicians, pharmacies, etc. regarding patient care and involving plan of care, disease process and medication refills in conjunction with physicians and registered nurses. Work through inbox and canopy
  • Staff injection clinic by doing physical assessments, assessing laboratory values, administering injections, and establishing follow-up plan and future appointments. Refill non-oncolytic, and unscheduled medications per policy.
  • Follow patient plan of care established by physician, Nurse practitioner or Registered Nurse. Function as a team member by expanding his/her responsibilities as directed by management to facilitate optimal workflow within the cancer center.
  • Give clinical support to the scheduling department so appropriate tests are set up per physician request. Give support to infusion MA role as needed.
  • In collaboration with pharmacy, nursing, and social work, manage patients who are receiving medicines via patient assistance programs and/or patients required to enroll in medication management for oral meds (Thalomid, Sutent, etc.)
  • May be pulled to work at other CHC sites based on clinic and patient needs.
  • All other duties as assigned.
