POSITION SUMMARY
Works under supervision of Production Supervisor with the guidance of other members of operations, maintenance, and plant management. Team members shall understand and follow factory management systems for human safety, food safety and/or environmental management. Understand and actively work toward achieving management system targets and objectives. Team members shall follow the plant rules, procedures, and/or practices related to management systems. Team members will report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the appropriate management system on all related procedures and programs. Other requirements are but not limited to:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Reading, Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages), and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Nestlé Lockout / Tagout Policy.
  • Timely communication of all operational and/or safety issues to Team Leader to avoid accidents and unnecessary downtime.
  • Always keep work area clean and in compliance with all housekeeping and GMP standards by avoiding unnecessary spillage in work area.
  • Understand and follows all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Timely communication of all operational and/or safety issues to Supervisor to avoid accidents and unnecessary downtime. Any issues that may adversely affect start-up, cause downtime, or could result in an accident are the responsibility of the Ingredient Handler to communicate to the Supervisor/Lead and/or other managers immediately.
  • Set-up area with necessary equipment in timely manner and assist with Line set-up.
  • Double check commodity codes of all ingredients before using to ensure correct ingredients are being used.
  • Complete all paperwork legibly and accurately and in a timely manner including any required HACCP paperwork and ensure that paperwork is delivered to the prescribed location at shifts end.

  • Check all scales used to ensure they are weighing properly before batching ingredients
  • Maintain all areas with regards to housekeeping, GMPs, and safety at all times.

  • Inspect area at shift’s end and ensure that area is left neat and orderly.

  • Ensure that all batches are legibly and properly labeled with all required information.

  • Thoroughly clean and return all utensils and/or tools to Linen room at shift’s end.

  • Ensure that all ingredients are properly covered and removed from areas at wash downs.

  • Adherence to plant attendance policies.

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow team members and other departments.

  • Team members will participate in Nestle Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Lean activities such as the Create Stability tools, such as Standard Work, Abnormality Identification, Center-lining and Help Chain.

  • Team members will be responsible for building their competency, creating self-development plans, keeping those plans up to date and help build the competency of others, as applicable.

  • Team members shall understand and follow factory management systems for human safety, food safety and/or environmental management. Understand and actively work toward achieving management system targets and objectives.

  • Team members shall follow the plant rules, procedures, and/or practices related to management systems. Team members will report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately, maintain compliance with regulations, and refer to the appropriate management system on all related procedures and programs.

Continuous Operations areas will have the following additions:
  • Accurately turn equipment on/off, read all displays and menus and disassemble, clean, assemble, and properly and safely operate the equipment.

  • Safely and efficiently operate all hoses.

  • Ensure that all product has been removed from areas before using any hoses

  • Ensure that all electrical panels, boxes, touch screens or other electrical devices have been closed and/or covered prior to using water in an area.

  • Knowledge of chemicals and their proper applications as well as safety precautions that must be followed.

  • Always wear all required safety equipment and devices

Other duties as assigned

**This position will also serve as a back-up operator to the main operator in their absence. The AVF/Mutifill machine measures and distriubtes the correct amounts of product into the serving tray. Please see the brief description.**

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
  • On the Job Training.

SKILLS:
  • Reading, Math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages), computer, and leadership skills. Basic mechanical aptitude (i.e., correct use of wrenches, drivers, pliers, and lubrication techniques).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Nestlé Lockout / Tagout Policy.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY (AVF Specific)

  • Properly clean and set-up the Automated Volumetric Filler (AVF) and other related equipment in timely manner and assist with line set-up.

  • Operate and troubleshoot the AVF in a safe manor to minimize downtime and waste. This would include in depth knowledge of AVF main components and their impact on the output of the AVF that includes, but is not limited to the Incline belt, chute, filter tube upper/Lower knife assembly, photo eyes, control panels, water dispensers, and vacuum system.

  • Monitor the AVF dispense weights from each head against the product standards and made weight adjustments on the AVF following SPC run rules and initiating basic problem-solving activities to determine root cause and corrective actions regarding weight control.

  • Support in feeding product to the conveyors and AVF table as needed. This includes times when AVF operator is not actively working on the AVF, when he/she is not performing weight checks, or when AVF is short employees for any reason.
  • Direct and guide prep weighers and ingredient handlers working on the AVF to follow best practices leading to safe and quality product with minimal downtime and waste.

  • Proactively communicate AVF opportunities with line leads, mechanics, and / or SHO operators

  • Accurately perform yields for the related AVF products
