JOB SUMMARY
This position supports the Director of Test Information Technology Work Center at the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC). The Information Technologist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to related computer systems, hardware, or software and responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problems, and determines and implements a solution.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides NIPRNet and SIPRNet support and troubleshoots IT-related issues for various devices including laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, and video teleconferencing hardware/software.
- Provides initial systems diagnostics testing.
- Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems with NIPRNet and SIPRNet Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and other commercial Wi-Fi networks, and elevates any unresolved problems.
- Resolves partial service failures (software or hardware related) by providing for revised applications of system operating capabilities, which involves working through or around the problems with reduced capacity and readjusting the system when full operating configuration is resolved.
- Communicates with local and agency level network/system administrators, applications programmers, and operations personnel to identify problems with applications, operating systems, or hardware that are difficult to pinpoint.
- Adapts or develops new work procedures and instructions for application by self and others.
- Connects peripherals, partitions and formats drives, moves files from one media to another and creates/modifies/deletes directories.
- Handles routine maintenance, for example system back-ups, diagnostics, and data recovery.
- Restores hard drives and recovers equipment from system crashes.
- Ensures VTC and telephony devices operate properly.
- Determines the actions required by considering applicable instructions, references, objectives, customer desires, established program logic, and system constraints.
- Performs system software control and security program support.
- Installs and maintains hardware and coordinates with the Equipment Control Officer (ECO) with temporary and/or permanent transfer of IT assets. IAW applicable Air Force instructions, performs inventory of IT assets and reports inventory changes to the ECO.
- Advises computer users on policies, procedures, accountability, and maintenance of IT equipment. Installs, upgrades, and maintains software/hardware.
- Assists in developing new and/or modified procedures for the operation of software passwords and user privileges, identifying and reporting security breaches as applicable.
- Assists with the administration of the overall computer security program.
- Implements organizational procedures with local wing security plans, procedures, and training to comply with DoD, Air Force, and local security policies.
- Assists in developing organizational supplements to local wing security plan.
- Ensures that all users accomplish annual Information Awareness (IA) training as required.
- Provides customer training and assistance for new computer system installations and sets up system and user profiles.
- Provides technical assistance to current and potential users of systems to minimize computer disruptions.
- Identifies organizational training deficiencies and provides and/or procures necessary training to accomplish mission requirements.
- The IT Technologist will submit MSR’s (Monthly Status Reports) to GMRE headquarters by the10th day of every month. The MSR will include employee’s name, supported MDS, a maximum of 5 bullet points for significant events for the month, travel for the past month and any significant events and activities for the next 60 days.
- The IT Specialist will support the AATC Commander as needed on various ancillary projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma and some training from a technical trade school or military technical school with 3 years of Information Technology experience.
- CompTIA Security+ CE Certification. Employee shall obtain and maintain proper IA certification for the position as required in the DoD 8570.01-M.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
- You are required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The work is generally sedentary, there will be some recurring periods of maintaining equipment which may require employee to lift computer equipment, stand, walk, stretch, bend, reach, and stoop for short periods of time, requiring only moderate physical ability and physical stress.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
- This position may require travel up to 50% of the time from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time to fulfill contract requirements.
