The Information Technology Specialist II plays a critical role in safeguarding the California
Department of Insurance's (CDI) valuable information and data assets. Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), the Specialist provides a high level of technical expertise and oversight in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Information Security policies, and controls. This includes preparing key documentation related to ongoing Information Security risk assessments and advancing CDI's compliance with federal and state cybersecurity mandates, particularly those pertaining to Artificial Intelligence, Zero Trust architectures, and Data Security.
The role involves a broad range of responsibilities encompassing compliance, validation,
documentation, risk mitigation, and monitoring of the CDI's cybersecurity compliance
program, with a specific focus on protecting data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
This includes assessing and implementing measures to secure data, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and regulations, and developing strategies to respond to and recover from data breaches.
The Specialist works closely with members of the Information Technology Department (ITD), legal, and privacy teams to maintain a strong security posture for CDI.
