Job Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) or designee, assists in various areas across the  Information Security Office (ISO) ,performs work in security domains ranging from Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) to Governance Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) solutions.  Assists with fundamental security processes such as organization-wide vulnerability scanning and remediation activities.  Participates in the development of security policies, standards and guidelines.  Serves as an active and contributing member of the Cook County Information Security Office team.  Creates operational run books for security technologies and develops quick reference guides.  Liaisons with the service desk for end user assistance.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Possession of a High School diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate is required.
  • Three (3) years of full-time work experience as an analyst in Information Technology (IT) Networking or Security is required.
  • Certification in Information Security or IT Networking is required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

OR

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree is required.
  • One (1) year of full-time work experience as an analyst in Information Technology (IT) Networking or Security is required.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Science or Management Systems.

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. Candidates who are selected to fill safety-sensitive positions must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.

  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS

 

Knowledge of IT security theory; technologies; policies and best practices; and enterprise architectures. Knowledge of network architecture, operations and protocols. Knowledge of secure network/systems configuration management, as well as an understanding of networking concepts and devices. Skill in time management as it relates to incidents. Ability to work 24/7 including holidays and weekends. Ability to work independently and simultaneously to manage multiple complex projects at different phases .Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to document requirements, designs, communication plans, project plans, project status reports and other relevant project-related issues. Excellent problem solving skills.
