Full-time with benefits; primarily day shift, Monday through Friday between the hours of 6am and 5pm; flexibility is given but must also be able to work off hours to meet the needs of the department; on call rotation required.
JOB SUMMARY
The Information Technology Services (IS) Clinical Coordinator is responsible for development, managing, directing and supporting the organization’s EHR platform and supporting technology systems. The IS Clinical Coordinator, in conjunction with IS Director, has the oversight responsibility of the IS department and staff management that supports the hospital mission, vision, and values. Administrative responsibilities include project management, analyzing technology requirements, identifying solutions and coordinating efforts with outside vendors, maintaining/supporting technology systems, ensuring effective use of technology resources and processing operations at the hospital, budget preparation, performance reviews, ensures compliance with state, federal and other regulatory requirements. Works to improve the timeliness, consistency, accuracy, integration, access and availability of information. Effectively promotes and communicates information to support users operations, changes, and education. Participates in the organizational strategic plan to provide direction and leadership in development of technology operations to support the achievement of the hospital’s goals and objectives. The IS Clinical Coordinator serves as primary backup to the IS Department in providing leadership duties to the IS staff in the Director’s absence.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTION
Manage EHR system and all supporting systems, including maintenance, upgrades, training, and troubleshooting.Integrate, facilitate, build, contribute and manage resources to achieve strategic goals, short term and long term, via the utilization/management of clinical information systems and I/T resources.Provide consultative services organizational wide regarding workflow process, technological solutions and educational programs to adopt, support, promote utilization and the further development of the clinical information system. Plan, direct, supervises, and coordinate IS department/staff and creates a professional environment. Establishes priorities, defines resource limitations, participates in various projects, monitors progress and evaluates and reports results. Interprets and evaluates the impact of the department and the appropriate response or strategy of the department to the problems, changing conditions and issues that confront the department on an ongoing basis.Develops, implements, maintains and administers policies and procedures which are consistent with the hospital’s goals, quality of service, strategic plan, Joint Commission standards and supports the objectives of the hospital. Make decisions relative to area of responsibilities and within the limits of authority delegated by the division director. Determines appropriate operational changes and coordinates procedural and system changes as necessary.Monitors the technology resources and makes changes as needed to improve services, simplify workflow and assure compliance with regulatory requirements. Analyzes the needs of the individual departments within the hospital in relation to the overall system flow.Utilizes the principals of process improvement in the provision of services with established guidelines. Ensures prompt and courteous feedback to requestors of information services, patients and customers.Maintains department reports and records for administrative and regulatory purposes. Remains current with health and computer industry trends and regulatory policies. Ensure department systems are in place to comply with national, state and industry regulations.Participates in hospital committees, management meetings and educational offerings as appropriate and directed by division director.Appropriately bring to the attention of the upper-management actual and/or potential violations of the organization’s established policies, procedures and standards.Provide technology related support for the core hospital and ancillary departments’ information systems. Ensure information technology capabilities exist to execute software. Provide direction, support and troubleshooting functions for all staff, providers, vendors, etc to assist them with using the technology provided. Continual efforts to improve understanding of the various applications, systems, and resources to assist users.Contribute to department budget and long term planning. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field required. EHR certification or equivalent.Minimum of five years healthcare experience required.Minimum 5 year’s experience in the areas of electronic health record management and/or leadership/supervision.Must have prior experience in project management to include installation and/or conversions.Ability to work onsite, remotely, on call, and to be called in.
