Live and work "at the lakes!" Detroit Lakes Public Schools (DLPS) is seeking a Info Tech Level II Technician to join its technology team.
Detroit Lakes (MN) is located in the beautiful lakes region of West-Central Minnesota. POSITION INFORMATION

 

The Info Tech Level II Technician position on our team is open to a wide variety of skill sets. If you have expertise, aptitude or a strong interest in Networking, CyberSecurity or Tech Integration (Primary Areas) we will meld your skills with the rest of the IT team to best serve our customers, the Students, Staff and District Community. A Level II Tech will be asked to provide Districtwide HelpDesk coverage, Building Tech Support and be a Leader in one Primary Area of support.

 

General technical aptitudes would include, but are not limited to: Providing prompt and courteous technical support to students, faculty, and staff for hardware and software issues, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems. Ensuring that all equipment is in proper working condition and promptly addressing any identified issues. Ensure timely resolution, while keeping stakeholders informed of the progress and status of support requests. Work with 3rd party vendors and service providers, provide technical assistance and advice to users as needed, install software and hardware products.

 

Primary Area aptitudes would include, but are not limited to: (one of the following three areas)

 

Networking: Designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.  In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, and security principles, along with hands-on experience with network management and monitoring tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot network-related issues efficiently.

 

CyberSecurity: Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies and protocols to safeguard the District's IT infrastructure and data. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate solutions. Respond to and investigate any security incidents and unauthorized access attempts.

 

Tech Integration:  Support the implementation of technology initiatives and projects within the school, including assisting with the deployment of new software applications and updates. Educate end-users on basic technology operations, such as software usage, system functionalities, and best practices for utilizing school-provided technology resources. Assist in the coordination and execution of technology-related training sessions and workshops for faculty and staff, as needed.

 

Critical skills: In addition to technical aptitude and experience, the successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to provide excellent end user customer service and have a proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Further, the candidate must present evidence of flexibility and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as a team member, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Leadership aptitude and potential would be a plus as upward career mobility may be possible.

 

Education: HS Diploma required. Bachelor's/Associates Degree in IT field preferred

 

Experience: 3+ years of related experience preferred

 

Schedule: 12-month position. Monday-Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend hours for performing upgrades
