As an Infection Preventionist you provide important information to the Clinical Department. Your work will ensure our residents receive the high standard of care they have grown to expect at Warren Barr Lincoln Park by ensuring staff receives the proper training to help prevent/spread infections in residents.

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct our infection control program and its activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern such programs, and Standard IC 1:1 Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Long Term Care Facilities of the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organization ("JCAHO"), and as may be directed by the Administrator, the Medical Director, the Director of Nursing, the Infection Control Committee, and other members of the facility's management to whom such persons report to ensure that an effective infection control program is maintained at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess, at a minimum, a nursing degree from an accredited college, university or school of nursing and a current unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing.
  2. Must complete the required Nursing Home Infection Preventionist Certification course as approved by CDC.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions in a timely fashion when circumstances warrent such action.
  2. Mut demonstrate the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and their representatives, outside health care professionals, support agencies, and the general public.
  3. Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
  4. Must demonstrate leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  5. Must be knowledgeable of nursing, infection control and prevention, and medical practices and procedures, as well as JCAHO, CMS, CDC and IDPH regulations that pertain to long-term care.
