Infant andEarly Childhood Mental Health Consultant- Bilingual Spanish preferred 

Salary Range: $27.07- $28.56/hour ($56,300- $59,400 annually) 
Bilingual Spanish: $29.51- $31.13/hour ($61,300- $64,700 annually) 

Higher pay scales for licensed individuals! 

In Person, Full Time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday 

Seeking a candidate with Infant and/or Early Childhood experience or interest to provide consultation with Morrison’s Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Program.   

Morrison Child and Family Services is a non-profit organization providing a continuum of trauma-informed, culturally responsive programs and services for youth and families in residential, shelter, respite, foster care, community & school-based outpatient, family preservation, and prevention services.  As one of the largest Mental Health and substance use recovery agencies serving 7,000 youth in Portland, Oregon, and the state of Washington, our goal is to promote a vibrant culture of self-care, creativity, and overall resilience that contribute to the success of our youth and families.     

About the Program:  
Our Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program provides prevention services, including Child and Family Consultation and Program-Level Consultation, in Multnomah County and the City of Portland. We serve young (birth to 5 years of age) children, their families, and Early care and education staff in Early Childhood settings that include: Head Start, Early Head Start, childcare centers, and family home childcare providers.  

The program supports Early Childhood care and education staff to build capacity to support children’s social and emotional skills. This includes providing staff training and development, regarding general Early Childhood social, emotional, and behavioral issues, and support for managing early behavioral challenges in preschool children. We also provide teacher assessments and coaching, using evidence-based models to build early care and education staff’s capacity to improve classroom practices.  

 

Job Summary:   
The Infant andEarly Childhood Mental Health Consultant is responsible for providing a broad range of Mental Health prevention services including infant/Early Childhood consultation, staff and parent training and support group, and other Mental Health prevention and referral services to identified children and their families to selected Early Childhood and education sites. The position involves implementation of evidenced based practice models, including The Georgetown Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation model, Early Childhood Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports (EC-PBIS/Pyramid Model), and Incredible Years.

Job Duties (Full job description available at interview stage or earlier by request): 

  • Provide prevention services to children, their families, and Early Childhood education staff using infant/Early Childhood Mental Health consultation strategies, Early Childhood Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports (EC-PBIS)/Pyramid Model practices, and Incredible Years or Circle of Security group curriculums.  
  • Provide as necessary referral and consultation services to outside community based social services, healthcare providers, Mental Health treatment services, and Early Childhood special education providers.  
  • Facilitate parent and child groups (Incredible Years, Circle of Security) with measurable fidelity, including video- taping, data collection and documentation and/or other fidelity related activities as needed. 

 

Experience/Education Requirements   

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling or related field.  
  • Minimum of two years direct experience in a Mental Health setting providing prevention services and/or Mental Health therapy to children and their families. 

  

Preferred Qualifications not required  

  • Bilingual language skills (Spanish) strongly preferred, verbal 

 Other Requirements: 

  • Able to pass a comprehensive criminal history background investigation  
  • Provides emergency first-aid, as needed, and maintains a current infant/child first-aid/CPR certification.  
  • Travel to other community locations is required  

 

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • The person in this position needs to frequently move around the office 
  • Constantly positions self to maintain site, including under the desks and access supplies up high. and the ability to possibly physical hold and sooth young clients.  Supplies weighing up to 15lbs. 
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and staff with various inquiries. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.
