Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our EHS West Environment team as an Industrial Stormwater/Wastewater Regulatory Compliance Specialist. In this position, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting stormwater and wastewater regulations to ensure compliance with environmental guidelines, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program, Oil Pollution Act, Pollution Prevention Act, International Plumbing Code, and Uniform Plumbing Code. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct in-depth research on water quality regulations, policies, and standards at the local, state, and federal levels.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Conduct comprehensive research on water quality regulations, policies, and standards to identify applicable guidelines and requirements.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in water quality regulations and monitor changes in environmental legislation that may impact our client.
  • Analyze and interpret complex regulatory documents to assess their implications for our projects and compliance efforts.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide guidance and support in implementing water quality regulations effectively.
  • Assist in the development of recommendations to ensure compliance with water quality regulations based on observations from field staff. 
  • Support the preparation and submission of permit applications, compliance reports, and other regulatory documents as required. 
  • Provide training and guidance to internal team members on water quality regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Review water quality management plans for conformance with standards and regulatory requirements and verify technical solutions and/or basis and validity of conclusion/recommendation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in water quality regulations, policies, and standards at the local, state, and federal levels. 
  • Valid Driver's license is required for this role. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of water quality regulations, policies, and standards at the local, state, and federal levels. DoD experience preferred.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis of environmental regulations, preferably in the stormwater and wastewater field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills to interpret and synthesize regulatory information accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in using research tools, websites, supplemental environmental plans, and software applications relevant to water quality regulation research.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting processes and the ability to prepare permit applications and compliance reports is desirable.
  • Strong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.

Additional Information
  • Due to the nature of this role, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $125,000.00.
