Job Description
MASTER PAINTER
Works with Department Supervisor, Crew leaders and other department employees to safely and efficiently perform all functions related to painting steel.
Job Specifications·
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
- Operates an airless spray gun to apply industrial paint finishes on metal products.
- Experience with multi coat systems, 3 coat systems with primer coat, intermediate & top coat.
- Ability to spray complex coatings
- Understanding of mixing complex paint systems
- Understanding of coating quality and millage requirements
- Ability to read blue prints is a plus
PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:
Lifting
· Frequently lifts 50 lbs
· Occasionally lifts 75 lbs
· Occasional positioning/turning of 80-100 lb parts on a work table
· Use and support of heavy tools and equipment up to 30 lbs.
Body Position
· Frequent work requiring dexterity in a squatting position, such as applying or tightening bolts or performing welds.
· Occasionally walk or work on narrow work surfaces above floor level.
· Stand for 10-12 hours per day.
· Frequently climb stairs and ladders.
· Frequently step up or down from elevated surfaces. Change of elevation up to 24”.
· Occasional twisting and work in awkward positions or tight spaces for extended periods
Physical exertion
· Frequent handling, turning and gripping parts of various sizes.
· Standing and walking for extended periods.
· Frequent climbing.
· Using tools such as hand grinders, welding guns, paint guns or blast hoses and nozzles for extended periods.
· Exposure to vibrating tools and equipment.
PPE/ Clothing Requirements
· Painter – Tyvek suit, half or full face respirator, glasses and face shield or goggles with nitrile gloves.
