JOB SUMMARY
The Industrial Hygienist (IH) manages all aspects of the industrial hygiene program for ASRC-AES (AES) in both the Kuparuk and Alpine oilfields on the North Slope of Alaska. The AES IH reports to the health, safety, environmental and training (HSET) manager. This is a North Slope-based rotational position that will be 3 weeks on 3 weeks off.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop, update and manage Exposure Assessment and Sampling program and annual monitoring plan.
- Manage AES industrial hygiene annual budget for Kuparuk and Alpine.
- Purchase, maintain, and calibrate industrial hygiene equipment.
- Conduct personal and area industrial hygiene sampling as needed to comply with local, state and federal regulations, and the annual monitoring plan.
- Conduct hazardous material surveys (i.e., asbestos and lead sampling) as needed.
- Interpret laboratory results and generate notifications and/or reports.
- Knowledgeable in wide range of sampling methods, equipment, media and tools for the Oil &Gas Industry.
- Evaluates and coordinates the use of outside IH consultants and laboratories as needed.
- Assists AES in evaluating IH requirements in contracts and assists in developing and coordinating IH work/sampling plans.
- Assists operations in complying with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations of OSHA, MSHA, and EPA.
- Provide quality training programs in varied IH and safety topics, including hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and hazardous materials handling.
- Successful in team environment with little oversight or direction.
- Interacts/networks with operations management, HS&E professionals within AES as well as with Client representatives and regulatory agencies.
- Works with clients on IH projects, interpretation of results and mitigating actions.
- Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 years professional experience in an Industrial Hygiene role.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene or related science.
- CIH designation from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
- Previous experience in the downloading and operation of IH instrumentation software.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in industrial hygiene or related science.
- CSP designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
- 10 years professional experience in an Industrial Hygiene role.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:
- Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
- Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.
- Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
- Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam
- Required to complete and successfully pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.
The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company’s continued operational needs once training is completed.
