Pennex Summer Intern Posting – Industrial Engineer

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented college professional as Summer Intern in Pennex to join our team in 2024.  Successful summer intern hires will learn and support our 2024 projects and programs in support of our leadership’s vision and key performance objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity for college students looking to gain hands-on experience in the corporate and manufacturing industry.  The summer intern positions are not remote positions.  The opportunities are located in Leetonia, OH.

 

Our internship program could jump start your career. You will have the opportunity to perform work on special projects in your functional area of expertise. You will be introduced to our company culture and work practices and learn about department functions and how your role integrates with our entire Pennex Team. The summer will end with a presentation to the Senior Management team to demonstrate what you have learned. The Summer Internship is a paid program that can be flexible depending on your academic calendar.

 

As a Pennex (Summer) Intern, you will be challenged with completing projects that will enhance your professional skills as well as contribute to the department’s goals and objectives. The Pennex Intern will work on our company products and will assist with consumer analytics, communications, and process improvement. You will also participate in additional skill building activities such as trainings, lectures, department meetings, and extracurricular activities.


What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the team to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in optimizing processes, improving efficiency, and enhancing overall productivity within our organization.
  • Collect and analyze data related to production output, resource utilization, and other key performance indicators.
  • Use statistical methods to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Learn and apply lean manufacturing principles to identify and eliminate waste in various processes.
  • Evaluate and propose solutions to enhance production capacity and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their processes and identify opportunities for collaboration and improvement.

What You’ll need:

  • Must be a current Junior who is enrolled to be a Senior full-time in a Bachelor's program for the Summer or Fall 2024 school year
  • Can also be currently enrolled in a Master's program
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
  • Must be able to commit to an 8 to 10 week internship, beginning May/June 2024
  • Must be able to work 40 hours/week and periodically travel 
  • The ability to participate in design reviews and design sessions
  • Previous relevant work experience in Engineering preferred
  • Knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
  • A passion for documenting processes
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities, preferred
  • Leadership skills and ability to drive change
  • Innovative thinking & thoughtful risk-taking
  • Demonstrate a desire to form partnerships across the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of dependability
  • Problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated work ethic, goal-oriented, and history of academic success

Salary: $20/HR

Wage may vary based on previous experience and functional area in Pennex.  We offer competitive pay that varies based on individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Education

 

Internship program for Senior candidates of a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering related field 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with inventory management software is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
