Engineer I, Industrial
- Responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing manufacturing and business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce the work-in-process, improve fill-rates, and improve process flow and efficiency. These actions will occur across multiple facets of Boston Scientific's organization including: manufacturing, design, supplier development, documentation, and Boston Scientific suppliers. Projects will incorporate lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, quick response manufacturing, Just-In-Time, Methods-Time Measurement, or a variety of other systems improvement philosophies. The employee will be required to create strong relationships with team members internal and external to Boston Scientific to ensure project success.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes, creates and implements manufacturing and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, eliminate non-valued added, reduce work in process and improve fill rates
- Completes capacity analyzes internally and/or at suppliers for headcount, equipment and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools.
- Designs, implements and maintains effective metrics with internal customers or suppliers to ensure unbridled supply is achieved.
- Participates as a core member in cross-functional teams to quickly troubleshoot and eliminate product supply issues internally or at suppliers.
- Makes recommendations to design teams, which drive higher yielding, lower cost, more manufacturable products. May use financial analyses tool and recommend alternative courses of action
- Convinces internal customer or suppliers to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes so that unbridled supply can be achieved.
- Develops and coordinates ergonomic projects
Management Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineer required and 0-2 years of related work experience.
- Previous Coop/Intern experience in a FDA regulated preferred.
- Knowledge in line balancing, capacity analysis, ergonomic risk analysis, time studies, standardized work, PFMEA, and statistical process control
- Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma experience is a plus
- Layout design experience. Able to use AutoCad or similar design software.
- Must be fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
