About the Job:

As the Controls and Electrical Technician, you will work as part of the Maintenance Team to provide a high level of technical support for control and electrical requirements. With a continuous improvement mindset, you will offer support of the manufacturing facility through controls system design and implementation. This includes both the facility and production equipment.

In this role you will:

  • Technical resource as related to electrical and control requirements. Will be required to assist other manufacturing departments relating to electrical controls, PLC programming and applications, electrical design, start up and overall support.
  • Conduct diagnostics, troubleshooting and support assistance to Engineers, Team Leaders, and all Maintenance personnel to strive for world class OEE for the plant.
  • Create drawings and documentation for existing systems.
  • Utilize continuous improvement tools, including but not limited to TPM, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and support LEAN efforts, including Kaizen.
  • Evaluate the requirements to determine what current equipment and processes can be used or if new equipment/upgrades are needed.
  • Work independently, with engineering and with maintenance assistance as required to carry out the above requirements. The person will be viewed as an individual contributor and will be required to work independently to resolve issues.
  • Interface with the engineering and management team members at meetings.
  • Control system design and implementation experience relating to all phases of electrical control as used in a manufacturing environment. This includes but is not limited to building operations, process controls, utility monitoring and reporting and process control and monitoring
  • Establish, maintain, and improve equipment standards for all plant machinery and sub-assembly equipment. Responsible for ensuring there are no gaps between equipment specifications, equipment requirements, and statement of work.
  • Work with outside contractors as needed.
  • Interface as needed with the IT Team to resolve problems and support projects and equipment.
  • Train lower-level Maintenance Technicians on PLC troubleshooting and basic programming.
  • Interface with other departments as a resource in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Must supply your owns tools as related to your field and areas of responsibility
  • Train maintenance personnel on PLC and industrial controls
  • Suggest process improvement upgrades and/or device upgrades.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned


Skills you need for the role:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates degree or trade license is preferred.
  • ISA CCST Certification in Control Systems and/or State License in Applicable Trade is preferred
  • High PLC programming experience and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong skills & Experience in Ethernet, Backnet, Devicenet, Modbus or similar
  • Flexible schedule with call in responsibilities.
  • 5+ years electrical experience
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, database and internet-based programs) Maintenance software (CMMS) a plus.
  • Basic HVAC knowledge
  • Basic PLC knowledge
  • Basic Plumbing knowledge
  • Basic Mechanical skills
  • Ability to read and analyze schematics and blueprints.
