Position Title:Industrial Carpenter
Reports to: Civil Superintendent
Position Status: Full Time
FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Location: Varies
Work Schedule: Standard schedule is Monday through Friday. Weekends on an as needed basis.
Summary: Industrial Carpenter will construct, dismantle, and repair wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Erect and destruct concrete forms, scaffolding and ramps above ground level.
- Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools.
- Maintain records, document actions, and present written progress reports.
- Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
- Verify trueness of structure, set grade, check for plumb, etc.
- Mix, transfer and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
- Fabricate and install concrete reinforcing bars.
- Place and finish concrete.
- Maintain clean job site, pick up tools/equipment, secure job site each day-eliminate potential hazards.
- May rig materials.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
- Performs other duties as required.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Must have 4+ years working as a carpenter on an industrial construction project.
- Must be able to read blueprints, plans, and drawings proficiently to perform duties.
- Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
- Must be able to compute basic arithmetic functions, measure, mark, and cut equipment and materials to specification.
- Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed.
- Must be willing to assist other crafts and perform additional job duties while not performing primary craft duties.
- Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
- Experience working with concrete and rebar.
Physical Requirements:
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
- Will talk and hear to communicate.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
- May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
- Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, mask/respirator, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.
