While no two days are exactly the same, here are some things you will be responsible for:
- Performing personal care tasks, including feeding, ambulation, and medical monitoring
- Assist with fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates
- Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment
- Encouraging self-help activities
- Accompanying clients to scheduled appointments
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to work in a group home, home-like setting
- Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external
Work with a diverse population of people with mental health and/or physical disabilities, living in the community in their own apartments, assisted living programs, or their own homes.
- Majority of work hours are in the community working face-to-face with clients
- Provide training, education and support in all daily living skill areas.
- Services are designed to help clients maintain or increase their independence
- Locations include Ramsey County, and a few in Hennepin, Dakota, and Washington Counties
Requirements
- 18 years of age
- Minimum 1 year experience, preferably MI experience
- Valid Driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current vehicle insurance with good driving record.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Establish and maintain professional boundaries
- Good communication skills
- Able to be accountable for your time, report your schedule to your supervisor daily, and immediately report any changes
- Able to work in challenging environments, i.e. person served apartments, with smokers, pets, hoarders, and unclean apartments; also with persons served that may have hygiene issues.
- Proficiency with computer skills including email and Microsoft Office
