REGULAR HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (37.5 paid hours per week)

SUMMARY:
Assists individuals receiving supports from Fairfield County Board of DD in securing, monitoring and maximizing benefits by performing the following duties.
SPECIFICATIONS:
As an employee of the Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities, the job incumbent shall comply with all Board policies at all times, and shall demonstrate respect for, support dignity of, and observe the rights of all individuals served by the agency.
Duties
70% Benefits Coordination
Consult with individuals with disabilities, family members and other professionals regarding all aspects of assisting a person to maintain benefits. This follow up may include assistance with resources that detail how to apply for initial benefits and may involve problem solving with spend-downs, Medicaid, Medicare, and Patient Liability, etc.
Maintain current knowledge of all benefits, and other benefit-related areas. Maintains current working knowledge of any regulations and statutes to determine how they may impact benefits of individuals with disabilities.
Act as primary liaison between Fairfield DD and professional agencies regarding benefits.
Assist the County Board and the individual by seeking ways to proactively lower costs. Such methods would include working with the Service and Support teams to proactively prepare individuals for Medicaid when needed.
Act as resource person in projecting affects on individual/family benefits such as starting a job or leaving a job.
Responsible for assisting team to understand resources that they can use to report work incentives for individuals such as job subsidies, impairment related work expenses and transportation costs.
Provide individuals receiving supports and seeking employment assistance with ensuring benefits are appropriately secured prior to choosing employment. This position would also be responsible for assisting the individual with applying for Medicaid Buy-In or Ticket to Work.
Provide research and advocacy as needed to ensure individuals receiving supports are optimizing benefits.
Provide support resources for assignment of special needs trusts, guardianship. Calculates cost to live benefits annually as appropriate.
20% Communications
Further the mission of the FCBDD by interacting in a courteous and professional manner with individuals receiving supports, their families and friends and with co-workers, supervisors and members of the community.
Provide coordination with external agencies such as Jobs and Family Services, Social Security, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
5% Training
Provide presentations and information concerning the Board, department and work unit in accordance with Board philosophy and mission. May be asked to provide/participate in activities internal and external to the agency.
Provide assistance to the Professional Development Coordinator to develop materials for staff education.
Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings to enhance professional growth as permitted and/or requested.
5% Other
Perform other duties as directed by the Services and Supports Supervisor and/or Administration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Preferred candidate would have minimum of two years' experience as an ISC (SSA) or two years' experience in the field of developmental disabilities or related field.
  • Maintains Service and Support Administration (SSA) DODD Certification to be able to support Targeted Case Management documentation reimbursement
  • Maintains a valid Ohio driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the agency's insurance carrier
  • Insurable under agency insurance carrier

  • Communicates verbally and in written form in an objective, professional manner

  • Maintain basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and databases

Supplemental Information
FLSA: Non-Exempt from overtime
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: One (1) calendar year
STATUS: Classified Civil Service Employee
