DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Advising/Coaching/Case Management
  • Assists ICAP students in developing initial Individual Success Plan, addressing short- and long-term academic and career goals
  • Receives, screens, and processes participant referrals from campus and partner agencies
  • Provides academic advising to students regarding: admissions, placement, program/course requirements, registration and financial aid
  • Regularly meets with students to monitor progress, and provide individual coaching and support with organizational management skills
  • Coaches students on appropriate self-advocacy skills, time management, and organizational skills to promote student success

Student Accessibility Accommodations
  • Instructs ICAP students on accessing and requesting accommodations
  • Refers potential students to Student Accessibility Services
  • Works collaboratively with faculty to ensure positive and appropriate communication and the provision of required accommodations
  • Engages with staff, faculty, and administrators to promote awareness of the diverse needs of students with disabilities
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and AHEAD standards and guidelines

Social Service Networking
  • Maintain relationships with Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation and other ICAP providers in the state; attend regular community partner meetings
  • Work with partners to develop appropriate referral systems and processes
  • Delivers presentations about program services, qualifications, and expectations to prospective students, community organizations, and on-campus partners

Job Development
  • Develops, monitors, and tracks community-based employment opportunities for participants in ICAP
  • Coaches students individually on job search strategies (i.e. interviewing, resume writing, job applications, cover/thank you letters), providing support and encouragement in the job search process; makes classroom presentations on job search, resumes and labor trends

Data Tracking
  • Collects and enters appropriate participant data into databases for local, state and federal reporting
  • Maintains appropriate records including student case files and documentation, training site/goal development, and labor market research, and attendance
  • Enters case notes into college approved electronic records system and other student tracking functions

Program Support
  • Collaborate with Student Accessibility Services team, Academic Development Program staff, advisors, and other college departments to create an atmosphere supportive of students and student transitions
  • Participates in department and institution wide student recruitment and retention activities

Institutional Expectations
  • Embraces diversity and actively collaborates effectively with a variety of students, staff and the public from diverse cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds
  • Participates in recruitment and retention of students at an individual and institutional level in promotion of student success

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an accredited institution
-AND-
One Year of related experience in social services, career/workforce development, and/or employment and training programs
Core Competencies:
  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate information, to be flexible, utilize strong communication skills, recognize when client/student referral is appropriate or necessary, and work independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of students and clients
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of computer hardware and software
  • Knowledge of community college systems and philosophy
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, vocational rehabilitation, or related field
  • One year of experience working directly with adult students with disabilities in higher education
  • Experience working on Federal, State, and/or local grants
  • Experience providing career coaching and job readiness resources to individuals
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Bilingual English/ASL

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This is a 100%, 12-month classified assignment of the B3 band and grade. This is a grant funded limited duration position through September 30, 2026.
  • Continuation of the position is dependent on funding.
  • This position has a 6-month probationary period
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
  • If requested, requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work:Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.

    PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
    Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
