Job description


Purpose Statement:
The job of ISS Supervisor is done for the purpose/s of overseeing students assigned to "In School Suspension"; implementing behavioral plans; and providing information to teachers, parents and/or other personnel when necessary.
Total Work Days - 178 per school year
Work Hours - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Compensation - $14.96-15.88 (Based on Previous Experience)
Health Insurance - Employee is responsible for $85.00 of a single health insurance premium, school district covers the remaining premium amount.
Other Benefits - Retirement (Kansas Public Education Retirmeent Fund)
                        - Vision, Dental, Cancer - Are available during benefit enrollment
Essential Functions
Implements behavior plans as defined by the referring teacher and/or administrator/counselor for the purpose of developing the student's basic social and interpersonal skills.
Monitors math, reading and other lessons assigned by referring teacher for the purpose of ensuring completion of
assignments.
Monitors students during assigned periods in a variety of school settings (e.g. proctoring tests, completing homework,
cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. attendance, homework logs, activity reports, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing necessary records/materials.
Provides verbal and/or written feedback of observations for the purpose of assisting certificated personnel and/or parents in identifying needs and evaluating students.
Responds to inquiries (e.g. students, teachers, administrators, and/or parents) for the purpose of solving problems, providing information and/or directing to other sources.
Other Functions
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and administering first aid.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios;
understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes: behavior and crisis management techniques.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing specific,
defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining confidentiality; working with frequent interruptions;communicating in a positive, non-threatening manner; and building effective relationships.
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading,guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget. There is a continual opportunity to impact the Organization's services.
Responsibility
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 25% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.
