PURPOSE OF POSITION
The In-Kind Donations Specialist will provide support to the Youth Development Department and will be the point person for managing, processing and tracking all in-Kind Donations made to Covenant House New York (CHNY). The In-Kind Donations Specialist will be the primary driver for all donations pick-ups for the agency.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)
Perform all donations pick-ups on behalf of Covenant House, which may include driving beyond the five boroughs of New York City, Must be able to move and lift large bags of clothing and other various boxes and donated items.
Manage In-Kind donors and donations using the Donor Snap donations management software and generate Thank You notes and donor receipts.
Assess potential donations for acceptability using guidelines outlined by the agency.
Screen donated items for safety using guidelines outlined by the agency.
Maintain an inventory of donations and a record of disbursements.
Organize and maintain the Covendales clothing room.
Organize and supervise volunteer groups working in Covendales.
Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to solicit donations of clothing and other essential items, which include creating letters of solicitation and appreciation to companies and organizations.
Maintain relationships with local non-profit organizations including Salvation Army, Goodwill and the Bowery Mission regarding donations.
Assist with tours to volunteer groups and visitors as needed.
Manage inventory of toiletry items for residential floors.
Support Program Department by providing weekly supplies of toiletry items to residential floors.
Create care packages for youth transitioning out of the program.
Performs other duties as assigned by the department supervisor

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a valid New York State Drivers License
Two years of administrative experience is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
Organized, forward thinking and detail oriented.
Flexible and able to manage in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and maintain a positive, upbeat attitude.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
Enjoys working with youth and possesses excellent communication and customer service skills.
Demonstrate ability to bend and lift moderately heavy donations of up to 40lbs.
Must be able to comfortably and safely operate a 7 -15 passenger vehicle.
Basic computer skills
Ability to create and maintain professional boundaries
Strong mediation/de-escalation skills
Schedule hours:10 am - 6 pm
Hourly $19.23 _annual $40, 000.
Compensation
