A social services agency in New York City is looking to hire an In-House Pension Administrator to provide Pension Administration services for its pension plan. The plan covers four other employers and this position will be for administration on behalf of all employers.

  • This person will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the pension plan.
  • This person will work closely with employees of all employers, participating employers, and other stakeholders to ensure that pension benefits are accurately calculated and paid out in accordance with plan policies and government regulations.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Administer and manage the pension plan.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of pension-related transactions, benefit calculations, and payouts (the plan is frozen so there are no enrollment responsibilities).
  • Work closely with HR and payroll teams of all employers to ensure accurate employee data and pension plan contributions are recorded.
  • Monitor plan compliance with government regulations and provide guidance to Administrative Committee regarding plan requirements.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, such as actuaries, outside administrators, trustees, custodians, investment managers and recordkeepers, to ensure effective plan management.
  • Respond to participant inquiries regarding pension benefits and assist with resolving any issues or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to pension plan administration.
  • Invoicing the participating employers and work with them to ensure all payments into the plan are paid in full (current quarter and cumulatively)

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Strong knowledge of pension plan regulations, including ERISA and IRS rules
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other database tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in defined benefit pension plan administration
  • Experience in an in-house pension plan administrator role
  • Experience working with a variety of pension plan types (e.g., 401(k), 403(b), and Defined Benefit Plans)
  • Knowledge of pension plan funding and accounting principles
  • Experience with pension plan audits
  • Professional certification in pension administration, such as QPA, QKA or CEBS
