Immigration Specialist

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

An Immigration Specialist at Catholic Charities:

  • Advises and assists in the preparation and filing of immigration and naturalization related applications and petitions.
  • Maintains accurate and timely program statistical data to meet reporting requirements.  Enters data and generates reports.
  • Ensures accurate and complete client records are maintained.
  • Develop, conduct, and maintain an immigration services outreach and community education plan including faith-based communities.
  • Maintains knowledge of current immigration practice and procedures through training programs and seminars, immigration periodicals and website reviews and case reviews with managing attorney.
  • Acquires partial or full accreditation before the Department of Justice.
  • Provides legal representation to clients before USCIS.
  • Cultivate partnerships and contacts with other organizations, government agencies, firms, and businesses.
  • Assists in the expansion of services, provision of community education and pro se clinic offerings and program publicity.
  • Maintains professional ties with other service organizations/boards/committees for the benefit of the program.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bilingual in Spanish with written and verbal fluency required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Excel required.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work under deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university required.  One to two years of immigration related experience and/or training preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license and clean driving record. 

Must be/ or be able to become a Department of Justice accredited representative.

 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

 

Salary: $20.67 - $23.08 Full-Time - Monday - Friday
