Position Title: IMAX Projectionist

Department:  IMAX Theaters

Reports to: Director of Theaters

Pay Class: Part-time Regular

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

 

Position Summary

The IMAX projectionist will join Pacific Science Center's theater team responsible for the operation and maintenance of IMAX 2D/3D digital projection equipment as well as other associated duties in order to provide a quality IMAX experience for visitors of Pacific Science Center. This position works as a part of the theater team that operates Pacific Science Center's three theater spaces. This position will also work with the Events team as a part of the production staff when events are held in and out of the theater spaces.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate the digital IMAX 2D/3D systems 
  • Assist in preparation of incoming and outgoing content 
  • Assist with general maintenance of the IMAX and other equipment as well as the theater spaces.
  • Provide general support/assistance for AV services both in and out of the theaters 
  • Work with IMAX technicians service calls and repairs
  • Working with the event staff to help support special events
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Audio/Visual gear
  • Basic Windows Proficiency
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and the ability to remain calm and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot on one's own.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to learn new software.
  • Work will take place on site at Pacific Science Center.

Qualifications

Required 

  • Experience with digital cinema systems OR audio-visual set-up and support
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience with MS Office Suite 

Preferred         

  • Experience in theater or in the film genre AND experience with audio-visual set-up and support
  • Work experience in production

Compensation 

Pay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience.

Starting Base Salary Range: $25.80/hour

In addition to base salary, regular part-time employees can expect the following benefits:
