SUMMARY: The IL Recreation Associate supports the researching, planning, and scheduling of programs/activities based upon the 7 Dimensions of Wellness that meet the needs and interests of the residents in Independent Living.

General Summary:
Responsible for assisting in the implementation of the schedule for the comprehensive
recreational services and programs that meet the needs and interests of each resident in
Assisted Living and Health Care Center. We need a part-time Recreation Associate every other
weekend from 9:30a-4:30p which is subject to change. Benefits include a company-matched 401k, paid time off, direct

Essential Job Duties:
1. Assists with the recruitment and coordination of in-house instructors and/or volunteers for programming. Serve as an instructor and/or coordinator for various in-house programs/classes (i.e., Mind Benders) for Independent Living.

2. Coordinate outings off-site to include driving as needed.

3. Create, compile, publicize and distribute through Touchtown, monthly calendars, newsletters, and reservation forms to residents and for the common’s areas in a timely manner.

4. Must be familiar with emergency procedures and able to assist in the event of an emergency evacuation. Maintain and update communication on the In-House TV station.

5. Responsible for photographing events, outings, and activities to the network for the company’s use within the guidelines of the Media Release Policy.

6. Staff liaison for the Activities Committee.

7. Support scheduling and data input following company policy.

8. Assists with event set-up.
6. Communicate with the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator regarding programming;
provide suggestions and other pertinent information to ensure a successful
programming and services;
7. Provide assistance to create email blast and announcements and keep residents,
staff and families informed of scheduled activities; distribute the calendars,
newsletters and mail to resident’s room or cubbies; and ensure all common areas for
programming areas are kept clean, neat and organized;
8. Visit residents, especially those unable to participate in group activities; and
9. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
10. Familiarity with emergency procedures and may be required to assist with
evacuations.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess basic math skills and the ability to communicate effectively using various means. Bachelor’s Degree preferred as well as requires a minimum of one year of experience in activity planning.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certifications, as required.
  • Knowledge of audiovisual equipment preferred.
  • Must possess patience and understanding of the elderly, sense of imagination and creativity.
  • Photography and digital editing a plus.
  • Proficient in layout and design and have a creative eye for details.
  • Valid driver’s license and must be insurable.
