Overview
We are seeking an IGM QAQC Specialist to join our team. The QAQC team helps lead and support compliance and inspection readiness in the lab, and promotes quality and process improvement processes. The Genetic Laboratory QA/QC Specialist is also responsible for troubleshooting and providing technical guidance to others when needed.

Responsibilities
What Will You Be Doing?
  • Follows all regulations and requirements of accrediting bodies (CAP/CLIA and New York State Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program) and participates in ongoing inspection preparation
  • Performs patient chart verification for accurate and timely billing and reporting
  • Completes internal audits and monthly quality reporting
  • Performs document control activities including SOP updates, incident reporting, and competency tracking
  • Participates on cross-functional teams with supervisor/manager to coordinate troubleshooting and process improvement activities
  • Contributes to education of lab staff
  • As needed, may flex hours or duties to cover scheduling gaps
  • This position is scheduled Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm
  • This is a full time salary position requiring at least 40 - 45 hours per week

Qualifications
What Are We Looking For?
To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science; or a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution; certification through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified as an MT/MLS(ASCP), MB(ASCP) or CG(ASCP) desired
  • Minimum two years of laboratory experience. Experience in cytogenetics, molecular genetics, or molecular biology, preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with both short and long-term deadlines
  • Possess organizational skills and is detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively decipher and present information through oral and written communication. Ability to change communication styles to adapt to various cultural differences
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Provide courteous and informative internal and external customer service

  • Sitting Constantly (50-100%)
  • Talking on phone/in person constantly (67-100%)
  • Typing on a keyboard occasionally (67-100%)
  • Standing/walking occasionally (50-100%)
