QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree and Special Education Certification or Bachelor's Degree in Education Psychology or Social Work with emphasis on behavior management and intervention
REPORTS TO: School Administrator and Special Education Supervisor
JOB GOAL: A. To develop alternatives to suspensions and expulsions; to serve as SpecialServices Representative for all suspensions and expulsions and to providteacher training in classroom management and motivating studentsacademically, vocationally, and socially and to provide parent training.
B. To assist teachers and school person and school personnel in the formulation of efficient and effective Individual Educational Plans, including transition plans and data collection for verification of plans; to monitor all IEPs for deficiencies and compliance both in practice and precise program usage of computer system; to assist with training sessions and meet individually with
teachers for specific needs regarding individualized IEP issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists teachers in the design of appropriate behavior management programs for individual
- Assist teachers in generating computerized IEPs.
- Monitor IEPs for compliance and notify teachers when IEP deficiencies are identified.
- Schedule and conduct IEP meetings including scheduling related services personnel.
- Monitor LAA compliance.
- Assist teachers in transitioning students from other school systems.
- Works directly with the school system and other service providers to establish and coordinate
- Works directly with consultants to plan and conduct training sessions for all school personnel.
- Establishes a training and support group for parents of children with behavioral or emotional
- Reviews existing behavior management programs and assists upon request with program
- Implements and revises the parish discipline plan for disabled students as necessary.
- Assists with the monitoring of schools to assure that the regulations concerning the discipline
- Assesses performance through an annual self-evaluation.
- Designs and implements a Professional Growth Plan.
- Performs all such duties as assigned by the Special Services Supervisors.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 or 10 months (extended workday as specified)
