Job description

IEP Coach/Coordinator duties:
  • Assist IEP Case Managers in drafting and maintaining IEPs. Work sessions with Case Managers will be scheduled a minimum of two weeks prior to the IEP meeting to discuss formatting, goals, required services, accommodations, etc. (PK-12)
  • Monitor IEP's for compliance (PK-12)
  • Attend and help facilitate IEP meetings (PK-12)
  • Represent the District on behalf of the IEP process
  • Assist in submittal for Safety Net funds
  • Other duties as assigned

Assessment Coordinator duties:
  • Train staff/make sure all staff working with assessments are trained
  • Provide staff access to appropriate systems
  • Review and approve school testing schedules
  • Communicate with staff and families about testing schedules and reporting
  • Review and approve school Test Security and Building Plans and make sure they are being followed
  • Monitor testing locations
  • Report testing incidents and submit appeals and forms to OSPI
  • Answer staff and parent assessment questions
  • Report technical issues
  • Submit District Administration and Security Reports to OSPI
  • Provide test results to staff and administrators
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Washington Teacher Certificate with endorsement in Special Education.
  • Previous successful teaching experience with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of "Best Practices" for SPED related issues.
  • Mastery knowledge of state and federal laws regarding students with disabilities.
  • Successful experience in special education case management is desirable.
  • Exceptional IEP writing skills.
  • Elementary and/or middle school experience preferred.
  • Successful experience implementing a balanced assessment ecosystem within an MTSS system.
  • Mastery knowledge and previous experience, including training staff, on all aspects of Washington State testing requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with designated and universal accommodations as related to Washington State testing requirements.
  • Previous behavioral training preferred
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Demonstrates interpersonal relations, communications and problem solving skills
  • Leadership qualities that demonstrate an ability to be innovative, as well as maintain responsible and trusting relationships
  • Exercises confidentiality and displays loyalty and integrity
  • Supports and implements Eastmont School District policies, regulations, procedures, and administrative directives
  • Deals with obstacles, deadlines and constraints positively
  • Prioritizes district, school, and student needs
  • Demonstrates ability to adjust to and use new approaches in the performance of his/her duties
  • Seeks and takes advantage of opportunities for professional growth
  • Promotes good staff morale and works harmoniously and collaboratively with fellow staff

Mandatory Conditions of Employment:
  • Washington Teacher Certificate with endorsement in Special Education required.
  • Proven experience working with the Smarter Balanced Consortium in developing and implementing assessment requirements
  • Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check
  • Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance
  • Completion of federal I-9 form

Working Conditions:
  • Ability to promote collaboration and communicate in stressful situations
  • May be required to attend meetings and activities beyond regular work hours.
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
    • Ability to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and occasionally sprint at a rapid speed in pursuit of a student.
    • The duties require significant listening, speaking, writing, and typing.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
