Non-Summer: part time, hourly (5-15 hours), at $13/hr.
Summer: some fulltime weeks included overnights, daily rate at $150/day.
The Director of Outdoor Education is the department lead for the operations of Big Elk Creek YMCA Camp which is a resident camp with a focus on youth and primary operation in the summer months (June, July, August).
Big Elk Creek Camp is located in the Palisades, approximately one hour from Idaho Falls. The camp consists of a main lodge with a commercial kitchen, a directors cabin, and several camper cabins. The camp is in a beautiful location and includes water recreation activities. Big Elk Creek YMCA Camp will be a combination of traditional resident camp weeks, group rentals, and the development of youth group contract weeks.
The Director of Outdoor Education will be responsible for:
- staffing
- budget
- marketing
- program development
- registration
- compliance and safety
This is an ideal position for a teacher, but we are open to any applicant who has the skill set and motivation to conduct outdoor youth programs that have a life changing impact.
