Position:ICU Nurse 
Location: Rapid city, SD
Duration: 3 Months

Job Summary: The ICU Nurse is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to complex ICU patients, including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience. The ICU Nurse should have expertise in handling patients with various diagnoses, including ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma. The nurse must possess strong critical thinking skills, be comfortable in a fast-paced setting, and demonstrate proficiency in the use of Epic for charting.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct patient care to complex ICU cases, adhering to the established nurse-to-patient ratios.
2. Administer and manage IV medications, including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics.
3. Demonstrate expertise in hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, and other critical care procedures.
4. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and nurse aides.
5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Epic charting system.
6. Adhere to all required certifications, including BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC.
7. Participate in hospital orientation and unit-specific training.
8. Follow facility policies and procedures, including infection control measures and HIPAA guidelines.
9. Float to the Emergency Department (ED) when necessary, demonstrating flexibility in assignments.
10. Uphold a high standard of patient safety and advocate for best practices in patient care.

Qualifications:

1. Registered Nurse (RN) with a nursing education program approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
2. Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience.
3. Active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications.
4. Experience with Epic charting system.
5. Proficiency in handling complex ICU patients, including those with cardiac conditions.
6. Ability to float to ED and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (rare) - acuity dependent
• Charting System: Epic - REQUIRED FOR ED & ICU
• Scrub Color: Navy

Scheduling and Benefits:

• Weekend rotation: Every other
• On-call schedule: No
• Holiday Expectations: No RTO during holidays; No RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks in August every year)
• Approval of time off: Up to 7 days - must extend to accommodate a full 13-week contract.
