Role Overview: Hybrid / Jersey City / Chicago / Remote

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IBM DataStage Administrator to oversee the management and maintenance of our DataStage shared environment across multiple domains. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, optimal performance, and security of our IBM InfoSphere suite, while collaborating with application administrators and development teams to optimize shared resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and maintain the IBM InfoSphere suite, including DataStage, QualityStage, and Information Analyzer, ensuring adherence to IT security policies.
  • Develop and implement innovative tools and processes to maximize the effective utilization of the DataStage product.
  • Design, resize, and optimize the environment based on project requirements.
  • Install patches and updates when necessary, ensuring the stability and efficiency of the infrastructure.
  • Collaborate closely with various application administrators and development teams to optimize resource utilization in the shared environment.
  • Monitor and manage the InfoSphere suite servers, resolving technical challenges and ensuring smooth operations.
  • Conduct capacity planning and forecasting for new projects within the shared environment.
  • Work with IBM support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, maintaining a strong relationship with the support team.

Job Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience in infrastructure operations support and administration of DataStage environments, particularly versions 11.5 and 11.7.
  • Proficiency in setting up and testing new installations of DataStage, QualityStage, and Information Analyzer.
  • Expertise in post-install configuration and management of various data sources, plug-ins, connectors, and ODBC configurations.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the creation of comprehensive runbooks and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ability to manage services, monitor logs, configure security, create and modify environmental parameters, and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Experience in applying fixes, patches, and service packs to ensure the stability and optimal performance of the infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated capability in capacity planning and generating accurate forecasts for new projects in a shared environment.

Skill Requirements:

Preferred skills include:

  • Troubleshooting production incidents and optimizing performance, with a strong focus on ETL best practices in design and implementation.
  • Providing technical expertise and support for the ETL development team.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and after-hours for software and operating system upgrades.
