(I) Music Festival Support Operations Intern
Job Purpose
The Music Festival Support Operations Intern candidate is interested in pursuing a career in fields related to event planning, festival production, or volunteer management. This position will engage in projects that will provide real world experience handling large-scale event and festival operations, including volunteer recruitment and management, external and internal customer service, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining timelines and deliverables for projects assigned in support of internship learning goals.
- Attending meetings and taking notes, as required.
- Providing reports to mentoring staff, as requested.
- Learning company processes and procedures.
- Researching and assisting with information gathering in support of event operations.
- Participating in the delivery of volunteer training to ensure a quality and meaningful training experience.
- Supporting a culture of safety and ensuring implementation of safety measures and provided resources.
- Reinforcing both internal and external customer service efforts.
- Attending training and development opportunities.
- Supporting and striving to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Reinforcing company policies and procedures and acting as a role model for others.
- Participating in an intern program evaluation and project review.
Onsite Event Responsibilities
- Executing intern project plans and documenting outcomes.
- Providing support to Music Festival operations staff and volunteers.
- Engaging with volunteers to address concerns, answer questions, or assist with staffing assignments.
- Accountability of productivity and effectiveness of areas of responsibility.
- Using identified reporting methods to document operational challenges or request assistance.
- Must be 21+ years old by March 8, 2024
Qualifications & Skills
You must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or college and live in Texas to be eligible for a SXSW Internship.

- Knowledge of Google Workspace, MS Office, and a willingness to learn new software.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time, with or without accommodation. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard, computer and office equipment use. Occasional lifting and moving objects that are 20+ pounds.
Work Location, Schedule & Pay
The position is located in Austin, Texas. The intern candidate must be available to work in the office 12-16 hours per week from November 28, 2022 - March 9, 2023, full-time March 10 - March 19, returning to a 12-16 hours per week schedule through the end of March. This is a paid internship at $12.00/hr.
