Job Description
The Cylinder Retest Technician will be responsible for the overall maintenance and retesting of all medical gas cylinders in a Plant environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Examines compressed gas cylinders for surface defects such as dents, cracks, and burns
- tests elasticity of cylinder walls and roll cylinders to designated work area
- Operates, calibrates, and performs simple maintenance on ultrasonic cylinder testing equipment
- Stamps test date and company symbol on cylinder
- Marks cylinder in the manner described in 49 CFR Section 173.34(e)(6)
- Completes all documentation and data-entry associated with inspection and repair in a timely and accurate manner
- This includes all inspection and repair documents
- Maintains certification requirements to show the cylinders as being retested
- Receives incoming new cylinders, valves, and cylinder maintenance supplies
- Repairs cylinder neck leaks and safety leaks
- Inspects and scraps defective cylinders
- Housekeeping and light maintenance
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and analyze and interpret technical procedure or government regulations
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Effectively present information and to respond to questions
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Gas industry and cylinder maintenance experience preferred
- Mechanically and mathematically inclined
Physical Demands:
The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 100 pounds.
