Based on job duties, this position is designated as telework eligible on a hybrid basis (i.e., working at least 2 days per week in the office); the selected applicant must complete the initial training period prior to being eligible to telework. All requests to telework are reviewed and must be approved by ODOTs Chief Human Resources Officer.
Position Description:
GIMS Data Base Administrator, Office of Statewide Planning & Research, PN 20065689
In the Office of Statewide Planning & Research, manages & coordinates the maintenance of division-wide geospatial Data Base systems (e.g., statewide modeling networks) including integration with other geospatial databases ODOT manages & maintains, (e.g., road inventory & Traffic Monitoring Management System (TMMS)). Formulates & implements geospatial database program policies & procedures. Maintains & upkeeps ODOT's network coding database standards; oversees work completed by Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) as a part of the Work Programs. Manages & coordinates the maintenance of geospatial database software (e.g., TransCad & TransModeler). Designs & implements geospatial database standards for employment databases & travel behavior inventory databases. Develops & enforces data standards to include data capture, coding schemes, Data Base designs, data documentation, data dictionary, index & data archiving procedures. Develops & oversees enforcement of data quality control procedures for ODOT's new network management process. Coordinates activities in data transfer & translation from MPO geospatial databases.
Investigates new technological advances related to spatial data capture, manipulation, & storage (e.g., commercial routable network products & E-911 routable network databases). Solicits geospatial databases from MPOs, consultants & vendors. Develops & conducts geospatial network database coding training to MPO & consultant staff. Utilizes computer & related software (e.g., TransCad, TransModeler, Cube, R, Python, GoogleEarth) to develop geospatial data (e.g., Origin-Destination, Employment, Travel Behavior Inventory, & Traffic Forecast Volumes for consumption).
Qualifications
Completion of graduate core program in computer science to include data structures, Data Base & information management & Data Base systems; 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in budgeting, -Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science to include data structures, Data Base & information management & Data Base systems; 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in budgeting, -Or 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in database & information management & Data Base systems & use of projections, coordinate systems & map algebra in operations of geographic information systems; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development; 4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in budgeting, -Or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. as GIMS Specialist 2, 85772. -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
