Fieldpiece is hiring an Application Tester with HVACR technician experience to join the R&D team! You'll use your years of experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVACR systems to help design, test, and build our next generation of HVACR tools. Essentially, you’re the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Voice of HVACR Technicians everywhere to provide valuable insight on product development to our engineering team and test prototypes and products for usability, durability, and more. You'll be a part of the Fieldpiece team that putting the best, high quality tools in the hands of field technicians around the world!

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of HVACR experience in the field - primarily on the service side - using tools to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair problems with commercial and residential HVAC systems. You have excellent communication skills - verbal and written - and can translate HVACR jargon and challenges to engineering teams trying to create the best products. You enjoy creating, innovating, and solving problems. You also like to break things - figuring out all the ways a product might be used and figuring out when/how it'll break so we can prevent problems in the field.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the SME – Subject Matter Expert – to create, update, test and re-engineer Fieldpiece products.
- Work closely with engineering and other teams to provide input into the design, function, and usability of products.
- Act as the "translator" between HVACR techs and our internal teams - deciphering the jargon, understanding real-life challenges and problems, and sharing the opportunities for improvement.
- Help build prototypes and provide solutions to problems and challenges to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Test ideas and products in the office and in the field with HVACR technicians as they work.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s, associate, or technical degree from an accredited HVACR trade school along with any certifications such as (Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), North American Technical Excellence (NATE), HVAC Excellence, HVAC Quality Installation Standard, ESCO Group, Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), or Refrigerating Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA)).
- Minimum of 5+ years of HVACR experience in the field using tools and instruments.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability to help design products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities with individuals at all levels within the organization to share ideas and deliver engaging presentations.
- Testing and problem-solving experience with a strong commitment to excellence.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative team player and excited to work in a dynamic workplace.
- Solid project planning and organization skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

The California pay range for this role is currently $50-60/hr plus bonus. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
