Pay Range: Starts at $17.00 - 20.50 per hour Depending on Experience
Position Summary:
Consistent with the Christian mission and vision of the YMCA of Middle TN, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the Vice President of Facilities, the Association HVAC Technician is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems including air distribution machinery, pneumatic and digital controls, hot and chilled water distribution, and variable volume systems.
Essential Functions:
- Model the YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
- Perform preventive maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on both pneumatically controlled and digitally controlled HVAC systems
- Perform seasonal overhauls and transitions of systems to and from heating/cooling
- Perform HVAC system inspections and manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance
- Perform building system repairs, major component replacement work, and evaluation of complex system problems in conjunction with central energy management and control system operators
- Monitor and adjust system set points and output using remote computer links to the building’s programmable logic controls
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Knowledge of mechanical equipment, plumbing, utilities, distribution systems and controls, HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance as well as knowledge of refrigerant recovery
Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines
- Must present a professional image and possess conflict resolution skills, and demonstrate sound judgment and initiative
- Must be highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information\Minimum 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum five years experience working with commercial or residential HVAC
Certifications Required:
- Before start of 1st shift: New Hire Orientation training
- Universal refrigeration certification required; One HVAC-related trade license preferred
- Current, valid Tennessee driver license; clean driving record (e.g., no DUI, no more than three violations in a rolling three-year period, etc.), signed driver agreement form
- Before start of 1st shift: Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen
