Job Summary
The position of an HVAC Service Technician is to deliver exceptional HVAC service maintenance on residential heating and air conditioning systems and to oversee the work of the HVAC Service Apprentice to ensure all work is performed correctly..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs a thorough and accurate HVAC inspection including Health and Safety Checklist and communicates findings to the customer in a written option sheet.
- Performs all HVAC repairs and replacements to applicable codes.
- Completes all required documentation on services and collects, records and delivers fees to designated office administration.
- Facilitates ordering for all parts required for appointments and ensures preparedness for the day of service.
- Submits purchase orders to dispatch or other designated purchasing team administrators.
- Transports materials and tools to the job site and provide proper accounting of assigned tools.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
- Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows industry safety standards.
- Maintains a clean, organized job site and well-maintained truck.
- Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- EPA Certified or pursuing.
- NATE Certification preferred.
- Have a minimum of 2-5 years of verifiable work experience in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of the fundamental operational functionality of residential air conditioning, heating, and ventilation equipment.
- Able to troubleshoot problems with refrigerant, electrical, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
- Must be able to use a computer tablet, or smartphone and read a map or follow GPS.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in confined spaces.
- General knowledge of power tools and techniques for care and safe use.
- Provide and maintain a valid driver’s license and approved by the Company's insurance carrier.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands:
- Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to pick-up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted
- Operate handheld power tools
- Wear personal protective equipment
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day
Working Environment:
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for up to 8 hours
- The technician may work in awkward environments and will have to carry all required equipment and supplies at all times.
