HVAC R Technician/Facilities Assistant

The Opportunity:
Rio Grande has an immediate opening for an experienced HVAC R Technician to inspect the current equipment, identify problems, and perform necessary repairs and routine maintenance when required. You will install new replacement systems and ensure they are running smoothly, working on both small and large HVAC equipment. This will be approximately. 20-70 percent of your workload, depending on the time of year.
Additionally, you will contribute to the daily facilities maintenance and operation of a 180,000 ft. building along with 20 acres of land. You will assist your team members with plumbing, remodeling, drywall, painting, framing, and general repairs throughout Rio Grande's facility. You will work on a team that prides itself on learning new skills, taking on new responsibilities, and maintaining the building in top shape. Our ideal candidate has at least 5 years' experience with facility maintenance and HVAC systems. You will work both independently and collaboratively with the team.

What You'll Do:
Maintain over 50 HVAC units for year-round peak performance.
Maintain the building to a high operational and aesthetic standard.
Inspect plant facilities and competently perform needed repairs, replacements or improvements as required.
Repair, replace, and maintain all the physical structures, fixtures, and equipment necessary to operate the building.
Coordinate maintenance activities on the HVAC units to minimize interruption to the business and improve efficiency.
Manage small projects and collaborate on large projects.

What You'll Need:
5+ years of HVAC experience (Willingness to obtain a Journeyman License within 1 year of hire is required and professional references are required).
Desire to learn new skills and share your knowledge with the team.
Ability to work 40 hours each week, Monday - Friday schedule
Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed. Work is generally Monday through Friday, but weekend and night projects do happen.
Ability to assist with preventative maintenance programs and the repair of building equipment.
Ability to perform general building and equipment maintenance and light remodeling experience necessary.
Project management and leadership skills a plus.
Pride in a job well done.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. and be on your feet 8 hours a day.
Ability to use Outlook in Microsoft 365.
