Hvac Estimator

Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable HVAC Estimator to join our team. As an HVAC Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of HVAC projects, including installations, retrofits, and upgrades. Your expertise in interpreting project specifications, conducting site visits, and analyzing project requirements will play a critical role in providing accurate and competitive bids. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Review project specifications, architectural plans, and technical drawings to understand the scope of work and project requirements.
• Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information, evaluate existing HVAC systems, and determine any potential challenges or modifications required for the project.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, architects, and engineers to clarify project objectives, resolve technical issues, and ensure accurate bid preparation.
• Analyze project specifications, materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor requirements to determine the overall cost estimate.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to generate detailed and accurate cost estimates, taking into account factors such as materials, labor hours, equipment rental, permits, and overhead costs.
• Source and solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers for materials, equipment, and services required for the project.
• Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, project schedules, and technical specifications.
• Present bid proposals to clients and stakeholders, addressing any questions or concerns and providing clarifications as needed.
• Collaborate with the project management team to transition awarded projects, ensuring a smooth handover of the estimate and supporting documentation.
• Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations related to HVAC systems, materials, and labor costs.
• Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including bid files, project documents, and historical cost data.

Experience and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
• 5-10 proven years of experience as an HVAC Estimator or similar role, with a strong understanding of HVAC systems, installations, and project management.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC equipment, materials, codes, and industry standards.
• Proficiency in interpreting project specifications, technical drawings, and blueprints.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to perform complex calculations and accurately estimate costs.
• Familiarity with estimating software and tools for generating cost estimates and proposals.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively present and explain bid proposals to clients and stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze project requirements and identify cost-effective solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
