HVAC Controls- BAS - Building Automation Programmer
Our client based in New Jersey is actively looking to add a BAS Programmer that can program and commission Building Automation Systems. Individuals will be expected to program controllers, integrate to third party systems, create graphics, and execute functional performance testing for commissioning agents on Building Automation Systems (BAS) to meet contractual requirements and project goals for commercial and industrial facilities.
Job Duties:
- Communicate with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff
- Programs and commissions local DDC and network controllers and the BAS front end computers per sequences of operation and contract documents.
- Integrates 3rd party systems/equipment such as BACnet, LON, and Modbus on Chillers, Boilers, VFD’s, Generators, Rooftop Units (RTU’s), VRF’s, FAS, etc.
- Provides onsite and offsite technical support during installation, start-up, commissioning, and turnover processes.
- Participates in onsite walk-throughs, formal commissioning, and customer demonstration/ training on assigned projects.
- Interpret/implement mechanical and control drawings & project documents
- Program microprocessors for initial commissioning, tune of control loops and calibration of sensors
- Commission operation of mechanical system equipment and sensors via the control system
- Identify deficiencies with points, equipment, and systems
- Set up and install communication devices for remote operations: PC’s, routers, switches, repeaters, VPN, etc.
- Coordinate with customer IT departments for data base connectivity, remote access, and other IT infrastructure needs
- Instruct customer or end-user on system operation
- Participate in education and training programs in electronic controls and energy conservation programming
- Set-up, program, and configure GUI / host workstations
- Panel fabrication, wire termination and wire installation as needed
Qualifications Experience:
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in the HVAC controls industry
- Experience with the development of graphical user interfaces and commissioning of projects.
- Familiarity with Lon Works, BACnet, or Modbus open communication protocols
- Niagara AX or N4 Framework Certified
- A strong background with Windows OS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including creating graphics for commercial BAS graphical user interfaces.
- Solid knowledge and practical experience with computer networks and advanced knowledge and practical experience of BAS Networks.
- Advanced knowledge of the controls concepts and strategies for commercial building HVAC mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of commercial building Mechanical & Electrical operations.
- Experience programming BAS platforms, i.e., Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Andover, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Tridium Niagara.
- Ability to proficiently read Mechanical and Electrical blueprints.
