Hvac Apprentice

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to perform and/or assist in a variety of skilled and difficult HVAC mechanical and technical work. Position requires ability to work over-time on short-notice, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the installation of a variety of HVAC equipment, fixtures, and systems adhering to OSHA safety standards at all times.
• Repair: pneumatic thermostats, electronic controls, control valves, evaporators, condensers, circulation pumps, supply lines, air compressors, steam/other regulating valves and sensors.
• Assist with energy recovery ventilators (ERV's) and associated gas packs.
• Clean cooling towers, replace filters, lubricate equipment, inspect and replace parts and components.
• Participate in, and inventory parts, supplies, and tools on service truck.
• Pick up parts and supplies from vendors keeping accurate receipts and records on every purchase.
• Operate computerized scheduling and troubleshooting heating and cooling control system.
• Operate various hand and power tools.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• General knowledge of the principles and techniques of the HVAC trade and the associated occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• General knowledge of methods, tools, parts, and equipment used in HVAC trade.
• Basic knowledge of diagnostic troubleshooting of HVAC equipment and direct digital controls.
• Ability to detect by inspection broken or worn parts within HVAC trade.
• Ability to operate fleet vehicles safely.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics drawings.
• Ability to maintain accurate written and electronic records.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and school personnel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum: HS Diploma/GED
• Desirable: Applicable Technical Trade Diploma PLUS one-year trade work experience.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license and clean driving record.

Pay Grade LC - $2,739.00 Minimum Monthly Salary - 12 Months
