Job Responsibilities
  • Plans, coordinates, supervises, and administers a facility heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance/repair program.
  • Responsibilities include program development and supervision of emergency and preventive maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
  • Must participate in on-call-rotation.
  • Employee will be responsible for the supervision of an Inmate work crew.
Must successfully complete two (2) week SCDC Basic Training upon hire

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma and experience in installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
  • A high school diploma
  • Five (5) years of extensive working knowledge of the principles and techniques of HVAC, refrigeration systems and general maintenance and repairs.
  • Must have one (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Must be EPA certified for refrigerant handling.
