Job Description: Human Spaceflight Systems Engineer II
The successful candidate will be a Paragon employee, initially embedded with Lockheed Martin in support of requirements verification tracking for the Orion flight program, primarily with the Environmental Control Life Support System (ECLSS) system. Paragon is part of Lockheed's team supporting the Orion program.
Responsibilities include to independently and/or in a team environment: identify and quantify design drivers, identify, flow down and track requirement throughout the program life cycle, formulate and perform life support and/or thermal control system design trades studies. More specifically:

Required Experience:

Responsibilities include to independently and/or in a team environment: identify and quantify design drivers, identify, flow down and track requirement throughout the program life cycle, formulate and perform life support and/or thermal control system design trades studies. More specifically:
- Perform definition, development, and decomposition of hardware design, analysis, and test requirements on the Orion Program primarily with the Environmental Control Life Support System (ECLSS) as well as backup support to the Subsystems.
- The task includes creating and managing requirements specifications, including reviewing and approving drawings.
- Establish verification plans, create verification success criteria, and reviews analyses and tests in support of hardware integration and verification.
- Coordinate design requirements across engineering disciplines and supports spacecraft assembly, integration, and test operations.
- Generate test specifications and reports for the ECLS System.
- Prefer that the candidate has experience with one or more of the following tools/databases: Cradle, Code Collaborator, Automation Framework, BEAST, TRACE, and EPDM.
- The candidate should have experience with space-based human life support systems, as well as, hardware and software integration skills. Locations preferences are Highlands Ranch, CO, Denver, CO, and Houston, TX. Hybrid or remote options will be considered for the right candidate. This determination will be reached during interviews.
This function is responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Knowledge and experience with the Systems Engineering product lifecycle, ranging from requirements development through design, manufacture, test, and operations.
- Knowledge and skills in applying Systems Engineering principles and procedures to develop practical and tailored engineering solutions.
- Ideally, but not required, knowledge of, and skills in, CAD software (e.g. SOLIDWORKS), and Product Data Management tools such as Windchill, or SOLIDWORKS PDM
- Skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
- Knowledge and experience with highly technical systems, subsystems, assemblies, and/or components.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken form.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, positive work relationships; have creativity, flexibility and resourcefulness; have discriminating judgment, tact and sense of humor.
- Independently and/or in a team environment:
- Formulate minimum cost, maximum value Verification and Validation plans.
- Actively identify, track, and mitigate program risks.
- Generate formal documentation such as technical memorandums, analysis reports, design and development books, or product manuals.
- Create and/or review system schematics and engineering drawings.
- Integrate your system engineering data products with those developed by other team members.
- Lead a 2-5 person team and execute a small independent project or a small project that is part of a larger program while achieving the technical scope on budget and on schedule.
- Interface and manage relationships with customers and suppliers to present technical and programmatic progress and as well as challenges that must be overcome.

Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Bio-mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and 2-4 years with system and/or hardware design and analysis experience
- Master's degree in Mechanical, Bio-mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and 1-2 years with system and/or hardware design and analysis experience
- PhD degree in Mechanical, Bio-mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field and 0-1 years with system and /or hardware design experience in the aerospace industry.
