Purpose/Summary
The Human Services Peer Advocate & Resiliency Coach (PARC) promotes wellness and resilience among their peers within The Community College of Denver campus community. PARC work-study staff will be responsible for providing peer-based direct services & support with the goal of increasing stabilization, safety, and academic success. Direct services include assisting students with the emergency aid process, peer resiliency coaching, and connecting students with needed campus and community based resources/services. PARC staff will also learn how to provide these supportive services using a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally humble perspective. The Human Services program at CCD strives to cultivate a team that reflects the diverse student population we serve and thus strongly encourages students who identify as BIPOC, system involved, neurodivergent, LGBTQ, and/or public benefit recipients to apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
To fulfill these obligations, PARC work-study staff will:
- Participate in professional development and certification trainings
- Promote wellness and resilience support to students including but not limited to helping enroll students in public benefits such as SNAP, Unemployment, CCCAP, etc.
- Provide referrals to appropriate campus and community-based resources for assistance.
- Assist with the development and facilitation of peer-trainings to promote skills necessary for student success.
- Administrative duties associated with the position include, but are not limited to weekly reports, participation in call campaigns, and advertisement of coordinated events and facilitated programs.
- Assist with connecting students to organizations and service providers in the Denver metro area.
- Serve as an effective spokesperson for the Human Services program at campus events, presentations and speaking engagements
- Maintain ethical standards and accurate records
- Other duties as assigned.
This position is a part-time position with the Community College of Denver and therefore, is a non-benefit eligible position.
