Job Description
SUMMARY:
Assists Human Resources (HR) Manager with all functions within Human Resources department including, but not limited to the management supervision of the of benefits programs, leaves of absence, employee relations and HR personnel files accuracy and integrity. This position will handle the day-to-day tasks and responsibilities in HR.
The HR Supervisor will act as the primary point of contact when the HR Manager is absent and will maintain the professional knowledge and understanding of UIHS policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in recruiting, training, development, and performance management to fulfill that responsibility.
Uses independent discretion and professional knowledge in administration of open enrollment, structure and conduct of new employee orientation, coaching managers/supervisors, resolving employee relations issues, policy improvements, determination of significance of background check issues, analysis of leave qualifications and requests for accommodation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
HR Supervisor I:
- Administer implementation and enforcement of HR related policies and SOPs.
- Administer management and ongoing review of UIHS job descriptions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues with supervisors and employees.
- Assist the Manager with employee relations issues with Managers, providers and above.
- Administer the implementation and day-to-day oversight of the UIHS benefits plans.
- Manage data entry and data integrity of the employee files and records.
- Assures the ADP system is up to date and all data is entered properly into the system
- Design new and evaluate existing reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and shall be performed in coordination with HR Manager.
- Assists HR Generalists with recruitment, interviews, and candidate selection as needed. May take the lead for Provider, Director, and Chief Officer positions.
- Point of contact for HR issues when HR Manager is unavailable.
- Manage, monitor, and report on worker compensation, family medical leave, employment leave, etc.
- Assist with UIHS Safety and Employee Health staff/committees.
- Responsible for coordination of credentialing and privileging documentation in respective employee files.
- Conducts criminal background checks per the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Provide guidance to employees seeking information on loan forgiveness and repayment options.
- Assist employees in compiling and completing required documentation for loan forgiveness and repayment applications.
- Review and verify accuracy of submitted documents to ensure compliance with program requirements.
- Stay informed of changes in loan forgiveness and repayment programs and communicate updates to employees.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of various loan programs and eligibility criteria.
- Ensure all loan forgiveness and repayment processes adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of employee interactions and transactions related to loan forgiveness and repayment.
- Generate reports as needed to track program participation and outcomes.
- Maintains confidentiality of discussions, documents, and information.
- Provides excellent internal customer service in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
- Adheres to accreditation and compliance guidelines.
- Maintains a professional organized clean working environment by following security policies and organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Must be willing to learn more about the American Indian culture and attend at least one (1) Cultural Presentation Training per year.
- Performs all duties in accordance with the UIHS Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles.
- All other duties as assigned.
HR Supervisor II:
- Performs all above duties with effectiveness and efficiency.
- Assists with the development and review of policies and standard operating procedures
- Assists with the development and review of the Employee Handbook
- Assists in the development and implementation of employee training programs
- HR Certification
Quality and Timeliness:
- Possess organizational skills necessary to support the high volume and workflow to ensure follow-up documentation is obtained in a timely manner, paying close attention to detail.
- Works independently, aware of time sensitive material with strong project management, and analytical skills to meet deadlines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of Human Resources Department personnel including, but not limited to HR Generalists-Recruiter/Trainer, HR Administrative Assistant, and HR Benefits and Leave Specialist.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school
HR Supervisor I
- Associate’s Degree in administration, business, Human Resources or related field, and four (4) years of experience; or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business, or a related field, and two (2) years’ experience in a related field or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience or
- Six (6) years of experience in closely related field or
- One (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels within UIHS.
HR Supervisor II
- Associate’s Degree in administration, business, Human Resources, or related field, and five (5) years of experience; or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business, or a related field, and two (2) years’ experience in a related field or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience or
- Seven (7) years of experience in closely related field or
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels within UIHS.
