McCarthy Building Companies is actively seeking a Human Resources Specialist - Bilingual to join the Southern Region Human Resources team, based in the Houston office. This is an ideal role for an HR professional looking to join a talented team of Human Resources professionals, doing meaningful work every day. In this role, you will do everything from ensuring an amazing onboarding experience for our new employee-owners, to helping ensure their continued growth and development throughout their McCarthy journey. Along the way you will participate in new employee orientations, talent reviews, performance planning, training, coaching and so much more. This is the ideal position for anyone who wants to engage in the full spectrum of HR responsibilities, partner with an amazing HR team, do meaningful work and have fun while doing it.
Key Responsibilities
- Partners with employees and management to communicate various Human Resources policies, procedures, employment laws, company standards and government regulations.
- Assists Talent Acquisition Manager in hiring and onboarding process by administering pre-employment tests, candidate travel, application tracking systems, background checks, drug test administration, offer letters and onboarding process/programs.
- Compliance Administration – 1-9/E verification training and administration, compliance posters, EEO and veterans tracking.
- Project Administration – employee relocation, performance plan system maintenance and customer service, employee service.
- Data Management & Transactions – complete employee changes in HRIS, monthly reporting, invoice processing and LMS tracking.
- Assists Learning and Development Manager in coordinating peer group meetings and training related programs.
- Conducts weekly new hire orientation onboarding call.
- Jobsite visits throughout the Greater Houston Area; engaging our Craft partners on HR related topics and developing relationships with our field operations partners. (up to 10% travel)
- Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as required.
- Assists department in carrying out administration of various Human Resources programs and procedures for all company employees.
- Assist in college recruiting and intern program.
- Assists HR Team with various research projects and/or special projects as needed.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business or other related field and/or 1-3 years’ experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish) Required
- Ability to research and analyze various types of data information
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong client service ability
- High proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work with all levels of employees in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion and the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
- Occasional travel is required to other office locations in Southern California or company seminars out of state
