Shoreline employs 207 full-time equivalents (FTEs) throughout ten departments. The City's Maintenance Employees are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Position Summary
The Human Resources and Organizational Development Director functionally reports to the Assistant City Manager but also works closely with the City Manager. As a member of the City's Leadership Team, the Director is expected to be the keeper of the organization's culture and provide support in partnership with other City departments. The position works closely with City leadership to ensure the workforce can meet the needs of the residents now and in the future. This position oversees the Department, and its services include recruitment and onboarding of staff, compensation and benefits administration, employee training and Organizational Development, employee and labor relations, safety, performance management, and compliance and reporting.
Human Resources Team
There are four FTEs within the Human Resources Department, which include the Human Resources and Organization Development Director, two Senior Human Resources Analysts, and a Human Resources Technician.

You are experienced in position classification and salary administration, recruitment and retention of talented staff, labor and employee relations, and mediation, and display the highest level of integrity and personal ethics. You are a strategic thinker who is able to provide organizational leadership to ensure the workforce is prepared to take the City to the next level of excellence. You have skills and emotional intelligence to engage in sensitive conversations and conflict resolution.

Work Schedule
The City’s standard office hours are Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. We are a hybrid work organization which means that staff have the option to work from home and the office. For this specific role, you can expect to work at least four days in the office weekly.
