Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is searching for an energetic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual who would be responsible for HR daily operations, and processing classification and compensation actions.

Job Duties:
  • In charge of daily HR operations, encompassing tasks such as New Hire Orientation, HRIS actions, salary calculations, I-9 compliance, electronic personnel record maintenance, release of records/record retention, and the execution of the Managing Accountability and Performance (MAP) evaluation system.
  • Tasked with overseeing classification and compensation actions, which involves developing and updating position descriptions (PD), conducting salary analyses and making salary recommendations, generating and submitting Salary Change Request forms, processing merit incentives payments, and overseeing Youth Corrections Officer (YCO) step increases by tracking and ensuring timely processing.
  • Addresses complex issues raised by agency employees, management, and Leadership Team members by conducting thorough research, offering informed guidance and recommendations, and developing reports on various topics.
  • Supports the Correctional Officer Retirement Plan (CORP) through tasks such as processing memberships, coordinating elections and board member appointments, calculating various retirements, staying informed about legislative changes impacting CORP, managing and participating in Local Board meetings, and preparing public notices, including agency communications and meeting minutes.
  • Occasionally travels to the Adobe Mountain School at 2800 W. Pinnacle Peak Rd. to provide HR assistance for facility staff, participate in training sessions, and attend meetings.
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment.

  • Laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to personnel administration to include Arizona State Personnel System Rules and ADOA statewide policies and salary administration
  • State of Arizona Records Retention
  • Federal and state regulations pertaining to Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Analytical techniques to include research and problem solving techniques; collecting and analyzing data and reporting information

Selective Preference(s):
  • Two years of hands-on experience in handling personnel actions, including but not limited to new hires, promotions, salary calculations, etc., with a proficiency in utilizing the HRIS system.
  • Knowledge of ASRS/CORP retirement systems
  • Able to work Mon-Fri, 8AM-5PM and occasional Saturday's, if needed

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license records checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked or suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.010).
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
